Musical Stories: If you could read a book about any song, which song would you love to see written down in story form? "The Passenger" is by far one of my favorite songs since it is definitely a memorable melody yet embodies a darker outcast-feel undertone that I think could portray well into a Paranormal/Urban Fantasy story.

Question: What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaption of becasue you think the movie could never live up to the book?

 

  Definitely any book from the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon since they are so in-depth with rich characters and detailed time-spans that any movie adaptation would seriously take too much away from the overall splendor of the story.

Book Blogger Retreat :

If you could gather up a handful of book blogger friends to spend a weekend away talking books, where would you go? Tell us about it.

Definitely a place in the middle of nowhere since I would crave a location lushly green and/or surrounded by water that would be amazingly peaceful. Somewhere I could lay out in a hammock (with an insane amount of pillows, margaritas, and books) and read/share recommendations to my heart's desire!!

Question :

Do you read one book at a time or do you switch back and forth between two or more?

Honestly, I am usually going back and forth between two to three books at one time! One/two books could be on my Nook e-reader while the other book/s could be loaned to me from friends, purchased for my own collection, or checked-out from the library (and secretly one/two more could be on my MS reader on my work computer *Shhhh*) Unless I get totally sucked into a story, I will easily go back and forth between reads all week depending on my mood and I love it that way!

" What’s the ONE GENRE that you wish you could get into, but just can’t? "

Answer:

I'm pretty much good across the board when it comes to reading, sure I like some genres more than others, but the one I just cannot get into (and I really don't even wish I could) would be . . . any genre related to politics - it just turns me off! I'm not a fan of peoples ideas about socialism, libertarianism, labor parties, revolutionary leadership, and any other type of governmental regulation even if it's a subtle point hidden within some romantic mystery. BLAH!!! My distaste even goes so far that books that have their male leads as simple police officers or FBI agents doesn't appeal to me. I'm a contradiction in being a romance book lover who does not enjoy the whole 'man in a uniform' fetish, but other than that - I'm easy to please! :) Maybe this all goes back to my intense displeasure of taking Political Science classes back in the day -HA!- who knows?!? Just give me fantasy, history, humor and some paranormal twist . . . and I'm happy.

" Pick a character from a book you are currently reading or have just finished and tell us about him/her. "

Answer:

I'm reading Tall, Dark, and Wolfish right now by Lydia Dare and the male lead of this tale is Lord Benjamin Westfield.

He's the youngest of 3 brothers in the Westfield family (where the males happen to all be werewolves as well) and his siblings cannot wait to make fun of him after discovering his secert [in Book # 1] -- that even at the age of 26, he continues to write weekly letters to this Mother.

Upon discovering that the full moon no longer affects his wolf side, he adventures to Scotland to find a witch who specializes in healing such oddities. For me, Ben's a fun character so far, he knows what he wants and goes and gets it; no matter what stands in his way (i.e. pesky witches with strange powers) He's considerate, loyal to his friends/family, and quite frisky since this book seems to carry a little bit more of a kinkier romance compared to the other books in the series.

Overall, Ben's yummy! :)

"Do you ever wish you would have named your blog something different?"

Answer :

Not at all! I'm a HUGE zombie fan (thus the rating markers) and I love anything paranormal, so I think my blog name fits my reading style perfectly! Plus, the greatest book is one you can really become lost in or not put down (i.e. Buried In!) and I feel my title combines all that.

"What book are you most looking forward to seeing published in 2011? Why are you anticipating that book?"

Shadowfever by KMM, which already came out, was probably the most anticipated book I was looking forward to in 2011. The end of a series is a big landmark and I've been reading the story from the beginning. Yet, there are other books coming out later this year which excite me as well : Kresley Coles's Dreams of a Dark Warrior, Carrie Ryan's The Dark & Hallow Places, Richelle Mead's sixth Succubus installment and oh so many more! ;)

Book Blogger Hop #5

Welcome to the BOOK PARTY!

Question?

"If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?"

I'm probably the odd ball in the mix, but my answer is Never. It would be nice if I did it that way, but I don't think I've ever read a series in full order. (JR Ward, nope. Kresley Cole, nope. Janet Chapman, nope. KMM, nope.) Once I pick up a book, no matter where its at in a series . . . if its something I adore, I'll usually devour the rest in no time. So, I'm never disappointed in starting in the middle or even the end. Stories are always stand alone reads to me. Plus, its always fun to pick-up new favorite series character's books later on and get caught up in their world all over again. Now this doesn't mean I go out to purposely read where ever I want in a series and sometimes I get lucky and begin at #1, but if I don't . . . o'well, no loss done.

* I thought about starting a blog section on the books I move on from w/o finishing, but I don't know which is worse: giving the book a horrible rating or posting that I couldn't get past chapter two. Ek, not good!

Do you use a rating system for your reviews and if so, what is it and why?

Who doesn't appreciate the living dead!?

Yes, you can read about my official rating scale here, but I prefer to use a "bury" theme throughout, including my zombie hands.  Why? I love to read about zombies and find I highly enjoy zombie flicks best out of all horror/paranormal genres.  Also, I find I use this rating system more for myself than anyone else, since I read so many series with books coming out years apart from each other . . . it's nice to check back on my first impressions.  If my followers enjoy my rating style as well, even better! :)

Who is your favorite new-to-you author so far this year?

Dan Waters
I have been surprisingly shocked at how much I enjoy his work! The fact he's male is even odder for my romantic reading style/taste; yet, he has become a instant favorite of mine since beginning the Generation Dead series. I even went out and bought the third, Passing Strange, just the other day.
